I always thought there was something "Christ haunted" in his lyrics, especially "Jesus Don't Want Me for a Sunbeam." I don't think he wrote "Lake of Fire," but in their MTV Unplugged session, he chose it for a reason. What you say about "Come as You Are" makes sense. It actually reminds me of a Steven Curtis Chapman lyric, "God is love as long as you're living right," Sad to say that was not only Kurt's experience but a lot of people's.
